A Deposit Refund System encourages recycling by adding a refundable deposit of Rs 5 on beverage containers like plastic bottles and chips packets. Upon returning the packaging to a collection point, consumers receive their deposit back. This initiative is taken by The Kabadiwala and Ayodhya Nagar Nigam to reduce plastic waste.

What We Do?

QR Code: Type of waste expected and suggesting eco-friendly, reusable and biodegradable alternatives.

Consumer Engagement: Consumers pay Rs 5 deposit while purchasing products affixed with QR codes.

Product Refund: Empty bottles returned to designated The Kabadiwala collection centres.

Deposit Refund: TKW executives scan QR codes, refunding Rs 5 to consumers.

Sorting & Processing: Sorting and processing at The Kabadiwala facilities.

Recycling: Sorted containers sent to authorised recyclers for a circular economy.

Recycling Journey

Collected Plastic bottles will be recycled into new water bottles, polyester carpet fibre, t-shirts, upholstery, industrial strapping and fibrefill for sleeping bags. Non-recyclable plastic will be used to make fuel.
